On the Rocks has now been trading since the opening in 1994 - four seasons, going on five - time really flies!! Looking back on the photographs, and the visitors book its unbelievable when you consider how many people we must have met over the years. Yet it never ceases to amaze us how many people continue to return to Telendos and On The Rocks, it hopefully will continue for many years to come.
On the whole 1997 has been another great year. The Barbecue Nights were a blast and some of you had the hangovers to prove it! This year there were no major injuries only a few minor, ones like the well known ailment 'Retsina Legs' and 'Zorbas Left Foot' perhaps the dancing was to blame and not the wet stuff!
There have been one or two celebrations throughout the summer and just about every excuse you can think of for a drink (or three) - birthdays, honeymooners, anniversaries, name day, windy day, sunny day, the list goes on! After our Removal Cabaret in 1996 with fridge's, tables etc the only real event for 1997 was the moving of the sunbeds to the beach. This was followed by a quick return to the bar after the tax man told us how much we owed him!! Sorry about the disappointment we will try to move more next year. The arrival of our long awaited telephone brought great excitement and we now have a public card phone and the cards available to buy also.
Some renovations and building will be taking place while the bar is closed this winter including the beginning of the long awaited rooms although it now it depends on how long it takes the authorities to complete the paper work - you all know the Greeks and their G.M.T.! If you want to lend a hand bring your overalls!
For the animal lovers of you - we were the proud parents of three kittens Kinky, Charlie and Tig, the tortoise laid five eggs, none of which hatched as of of you had warned us and Dilila the donkey misses the watermelon skins and leftovers but is wintering well in Myrties. Many thanks to you all for the letters, postcards and parcels you send throughout the year its great to know you think of us now and again.
