relaxing & keeping ourselves nice and warm after the end of another long & busy summer season!

Telendos and On The Rocks had a huge rise in visitors this season! Also quite a few of the 'old friends' of Telendos and OTR came out to visit us which was nice as it gave us a chance to catch up on their news... For those of you who couldn't visit us for whatever reason (don't worry we understand!) it's time to get those flights booked nice and early for summer 2010!

Please visit our new and updated website whenever you get a chance at www.otr.telendos.com to check for all the news, information & room availability. Please get in contact with me asap to make arrangements, so that you can then arrange your flights. We will happily take care of the rest for you, to ensure that you have a reliable, easy & enjoyable transfer over to Telendos and to On The Rocks - as we always make sure to do for you.
The temperature during the season was very pleasant with some days being a little too warm for comfort! However to make you all feel a bit better, the weather on Kalymnos at the moment is cloudy & wet.
Furthermore I will try to fill you in on the latest news & gossip from Kalymnos, Telendos and OTR. 

Kalymnos Airport remains open but unfortunately is still not proving to be very convenient or reliable as there is still only one late afternoon flight into Kalymnos daily. Olympic Airlines have changed their name to Olympic Air - big deal! Too bad they can't make any really significant changes and improvements.
The left hand side of the Council Hall in Pothia - Kalymnos where all the restaurants are situated has been completed & has made a huge difference to that area of Pothia.
The Mayor of Kalymnos is still not really helping us out with ongoing tourism issues and other major problems that we are facing. I've given up on them, not worth the hassle! We're having council elections this October, let's see what happens.

Now on the all important Telendos front.
Our path has finally been completed and the guide lights too! Even all the way up to the corner of OTR and continuing on to the Hotel Porto Potha which was a must. We haven't heard about any other major projects being planned for Telendos as yet.
The new Hohlakas Sunset Studio did well this season. There was once again a great demand for it, as the comfort standards are very high. Please make sure to get in early if you would like to make a booking for it.
The new NOVA satellite connection in every room and lounge area at OTR made a difference for viewing big sports events & other important screenings.
Our free sun beds & umbrellas for our occupants at OTR on our OTR beach were once again greatly appreciated. Sun beds & umbrellas are also available to other Telendos patrons, as we are expanding in that area as well. Our On The Rocks Water Sports Section is growing, with a Windsurfer & our new 4 seat Buggy Peddle-O being added. Next season we will also be adding a few new sea toys for our friends young & old alike.
The team from 'Crossing Latitudes' made there usual stop off on Telendos and had a great time with all the team.

The winner of the 2009 Telendian Paradise Beach Nude Backgammon Championships was Tony Russel of England. Yes, believe it. England has finally won! The champion for years, Karl Petter lost against the new member from England. Mr Shelton has retired, thank God to that!
The Telendian Festivals that were held by the Cultural Association of Telendos also went well. More events are being planned for the summer season of 2010.
I have nothing to do with the association any more as we had elections and I was voted out and a new committee was voted in! The 'taxi boat system' has returned to the main wharf again. What a surprise! I will also be moving into this area as an extension to my business. I will be running a new high speed taxi boat for transporting of passengers to and from the On The Rocks Jetty, Telendos, Myrties/Kalymnos, Emborios, Leros and even Kos/Mastihari - for the more daring passengers. There will be special pick ups and drop offs for climbers at most climbing sectors during low season and for any other sports or adventures, as requested.
My new boat is a Selva 6.5 meter cabin with a 150hp Yamaha, outboard motor which will have quite a kick to it. Passengers will have all the creature comforts as well as free drinks on board! The speed boat will be named "On The Rocks Taxi Boat" and is ready for business. I am happy to arrange all types of pick ups & drop offs any time and anywhere. So please keep my mobile number handy, (+30 6932978142).
I am also looking into a second more traditional taxi boat for the normal Telendos - Myrties crossing that my father-in-law will be running (Captain Stavros - Poppi's Dad). We will even be organising sunset cruises around Telendos as well as fishing expeditions.
We have re-started our BBQ Greek Nights & once again they were a great success! With a live band playing traditional Greek music and traditionally dressed dancers, performing traditional Greek dancing! We will be continuing them again next season every Monday night from June to September, beginning at 9:30pm GMT time. So book a table and get those dancing shoes out...
The long awaited OTR T-shirts have finally been printed and are now available. You can get them in black or white, Large or X-large and even in Greek! There are also kid's T-shirts available in black, white & blue. Cost per T-shirt is 10 Euro. The first 50 T-shirts to be ordered get a complimentary free OTR cap. So please email me your size & colour preference and we'll post them out to you asap.
Our menu has also been given a complete overhaul so you will now have even more delicious delights to choose from. We have become Draught beer only at OTR so all our beer will be on tap from now on. We offer cool Amstel, Heineken, Rhodes Magnus Magister, Alfa & Mythos. OTR is the 'in place' again for meeting friends old & new, for parties, Weddings, Baptisms and for every other occasion in between.
An 'important occasion' of the season was the 2nd Birthday party for our Telendian donkey 'Odysseas' that took place at OTR with live music & of course a special birthday cake with a carrot candle! What a fun & crazy night! Be here for the third birthday party of Odysseas.

Now down to some family news - Sevasti my sister-in-law, (Poppi's sister) is pregnant again with her 4th baby which is due in May.
We thought we might try and catch up to her, so Poppi is also pregnant again and is due on March 15th!
It's a boy and will be named Emmanuel after my father.
Poppi & I are both doing well and are enjoying our long awaited rest in Kalymnos.
Savvas is doing very well and has grown into a very tall, handsome & intelligent little boy - even if I do say so myself! He started school this winter, so that means no more sleeping in for any of us! He is now 5 years old on (the 21st of December). Time sure does fly by!
Savvas would like to take this opportunity to thank you all, for the lovely gifts that you gave him and also had sent to him & is looking forward to seeing you all again next season.
